As the new year begins and everyone is setting and forgetting their resolutions, I have spent a lot of time thinking about how to set and reach achievable goals. It takes me back to the idea of "One New Thing." What if you chose one new thing to try a week? What if you chose one new thing to try a month or a semester? Take one thing, go all in. If it works and you love it, keep going, if it's terrible and you hate it, stop.
Over break, I read a great article by Marguerite Ward stating: "If you want 2017 to be an exciting year, design it that way." The article discussed mind mapping "what's important you and what success looks like." I built my mind map, but decided to focus only on the month of January. Knowing myself, I know I tend to do better with short term goals. One of the goals on my mind map was blogging.
So as we enter 2017, here's my one new thing, blogging. I fear that I am not relevant enough to share what I know. I fear that I will not be able to keep it up to my standards. I fear that I will run out of information or that no one will care about the information I have to share. But, I've decided I am doing this for me, for my one new thing.
Here's to new things.
